so, you all probably know that ashlee simpson's album in the first week of its release outsold any of jessica's. probably it first sold to jessica fans. then to people who were impressed that it was edgier than jessica's material. then to people who just plain ol' heard it and liked it.

then i got to thinkin' -- let's list some sisters of pop princesses, shall we?:

there's jamie lynn spears who is on an snl-skit-type show on nickelodeon and has been quoted as both saying she'd never want to upstage her big sister and as telling oprah to tell britney to "watch out she's movin' in on her." or, y'know, something like that. she played young britney in the movie crossroads.

christina aguilera's little (15 year old) sister rachel had an art exhibit that featured a painting of xtina in her underwear and an open jacket.

*** like sidney poitier's son, these two girls have posers/imitators out there - pretending to be them on various blogging and diary sites.

hilary duff has her older sister haylie opening up for her on her tour this summer, and dueted with her on their cover of "our lips are sealed." haylie plays lizzie mcguire's cousin, too.

you may be wondering: where am i going with this topic? nowhere really. just listin' sisters.

two sisters who are famously enemies now: janet and latoya. (this actually makes me really sad and i don't know why...)

sister of famous person to whom i once spoke: melanie ciccone.

my friend who is not my sister but calls me her sister-figure especially if she wants to make me feel better or wants me to give her something: bella.

"sista": (1) what i incorrectly thought was the title of the song "miss celie's blues" from the color purple later performed by nikka costa (2) also the name of a soft-core porn rag.
